Painting On the Wall (Jones) BMI ©2003
That painting on the wall
A story's told when lilies used to smile
A younger man with sharpened eyes
The painter's point of view
The running light hung
And its shadow from the morning sun
The sign of your working song
Hollers out your name
Water colors, on a piece of paper
Paint a picture of a man's life
Fountain pen of words could never tell the story
Like the brush, could tell
You see yourself
In the window of your cedar shake house
So careful you tighten up your mouth
And never make a sound
'Cause it's peace and quiet
The solitude of an empty pocket
And there's no reason to stop it
It'll never be the same
Water colors, on a piece of paper
Paint a picture of a man's life
Fountain pen of words could never tell the story
Like the brush, could tell
That painting on the wall
