Another Life (Jones) Emus Way Music / BMI ©2000

Back in the 40's when the times were good
All the houses in the neighborhood
Were built the same without much change

I worked in the mine digging iron ore
Made good money till my back got sore
I took some time and drank some shine

Then I married a girl from another state
Her dad was rich, I didn't hesitate
Moved away, should've stayed
Right back where I am today

Her daddy gave me a job down in Tennessee
Working for his crooked company
I took the blame for a useless game

Well I quit my job and I left my wife
Hit the trail for another life
Jack knife, crazy life

Down the river, float the leaves that changing winds did breeze
A quick and dirty ride
Some grew tired and sank, others just got hung up on the bank
Not many will survive
